For veterans that served during a wartime era, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers a needs based pension called Aid & Attendance. This pension is available to veterans and their spouses as well. It can be used to pay for in home services that assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as assistance in eating, bathing, dressing, housekeeping, medication dosing and other bodily needs.
